About Us

Eleven years. One standard.

We've spent 11 years inspecting homes across southern Minnesota — from century-old farmhouses to brand-new construction. Master Certified. Licensed. Insured. And accountable to one standard: yours.

Our story

Fairmont Inspections was founded in 2015 with a simple goal: bring metro-quality home inspections to southern Minnesota at a fair price, with the kind of report turnaround buyers and realtors actually need.

Eleven years later, we've completed thousands of inspections from Fairmont to Mankato to Worthington and every small town in between. We've built a reputation as the inspection company realtors recommend when they want their clients to feel confident at closing.

We are InterNACHI Master Certified — the highest residential certification in our profession — and we maintain it with continuing education far beyond the minimum required hours. Every inspection we do is backed by full E&O insurance and the InterNACHI 90-Day Buy-Back Guarantee.

Daniel Hartley

Owner · Master Certified Inspector

Daniel grew up framing houses with his father in Martin County before spending fourteen years as a residential general contractor across southern Minnesota. He moved into inspection work in 2014 because he kept seeing the same defects buyers were closing on without ever being told — defects he could spot in the first ten minutes on site.

Today he runs every inspection personally, holds the InterNACHI Master Certified credential, and has logged more than 4,000 residential inspections across the region. He lives in Fairmont with his wife and two daughters, coaches youth hockey at the Fairmont Civic Center, and answers his own phone — including on Saturdays.

What "Master Certified" actually means

There are three certification levels in residential home inspection. Most inspectors stop at the basic InterNACHI Certified Professional Inspector level. Master Certified requires substantially more inspection experience, completed continuing education, and proven adherence to the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.

When you hire a Master Certified inspector, you're hiring someone who has performed enough inspections to recognize subtle defects that newer inspectors miss — and who has stayed current with evolving construction techniques, materials, and failure modes.

The standard

  • Every inspection follows the InterNACHI Standards of Practice. Not a shortcut version. Not a "we cover most things." Every system, every visible component, every accessible location.
  • Reports delivered in 24 hours. Most competitors take 48-72. Real estate timelines don't wait for inspectors.
  • Hundreds of photos in every report. If we identify it, we show it.
  • 90-day buy-back guarantee. If we miss a major defect within 90 days of inspection, InterNACHI buys your home back. No competitor in southern Minnesota offers this.
  • We answer the phone. Have a question about your report next month, next year? Call. We pick up.
